Ikonic Review: Eminem's 'Revival'
Eminem, one of the most lyrically profound artist of our generation releases his 9th studio album Revival laced with 19 tracks, features from artists like Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Skylar Grey and P!nk to name a few amid production from Rick Rubin, Dr. Dre, Alex Da Kid, Mr. Porter and more. Revival , arguably one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2017, leaves fans and new listeners torn. Lyrically potent - without a doubt - however, can we mark this as one of his top projects?
Revival encompasses many complimentary genres from soul to rock to alternative - its' clearly a melting pot of dynamic proportions and very politically driven. This album appears to be aimed at educating listeners on social injustices and racism amid personal reflections, pain and fearless penned flows from the G.O.A.T. It's definitely heavy and still possesses that dark aura Eminem is known for. When you've put in a little over 20 years in a business most people can't even survive two years in - speaks volumes. Revival includes weighty samples, fabled features, flawless production and sophistication. He experiments with new sounds and challenges himself to make this project as ikonic as its' soon to be. Overall, it's a great album; I'm a huge fan of early 2000's Eminem but I'm starting to fall in love with his modern evolution. Check out Revival below.
