London Based Singer-Songwriter HURU Releases a Melanin Proud Record Entitled "Black Beauté"
From the woman who sings, “Our Black is oh so beautiful,” surfaces a song with the same countenance. The follow up to HURU’s single “Like This",” “Black Beauté” is an anthem for the times, for one of the most stunning, melanin doused humans facets, for the proud, for the awakened. The self-written and Brian and HurricaneMusic produced record evokes India Aria, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott vibes amidst a style and vocal aura all her own.
"Black Beauté" encourages African American cultural pride lyrically boasting about the beauties of our people amidst an upbeat, soulful execution. Subsisting in a generation that doesn’t truly see the worth of Black people, HURU serves this penned, melodic reminder shooing haters, naysayers and bigots. That Nubian energy is not only transferable but priceless. HURU utilizes her musical platform to spread words of inspiration, positivity and dignity.
The British-born 22-year-old is proud of her Kenyan/Jamaican roots, “My dad is Kenyan and my mum’s parents are Jamaican. As a child and teenager I traveled a lot to Jamaica and Kenya. My life was filled with all sorts of music ranging from traditional African folksongs, Reggae and Neo Soul to Hip Hop and Folk music,” says HURU, whose real name is Muthoni Claire Mwangi.
